Developing Diabetes

Scientific American Magazine has just published an article titled: "Chronic Diseases of Rich Countries Begin to Plague Developing Nations" which looks into the sharp rise of cases of diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illnesses in the developing world.

Majid Ezzati, health researcher of Harvard University noted that those now suffering from chronic disease do so "in part from a withering trinity of cheap high-calorie food, tobacco and alcohol".

Ezzati's research shows that the rate of diabetes alone has nearly quadrupled in most east and south Asian countries in the last 25 years. Once again, pointing the finger at the Fast Food Nation lifestyle, which can tragically also lead to fast disease development.

Ayurveda offers detailed guidance on a simple low-cost lifestyle designed to support a long and healthy life, along with information on how to keep our moods buoyant and our senses soothed by natural flavours and aromas so that we feel less inclined to seek solace in sugar laced fast food, tobacco and alcohol.
